The Sailboat: Bernard
The Bernard is a Catalina 36 Mark II. A classic design that exemplifies Catalina's experience in building this model for the past 20 years. The latest iteration of the 36 features in-mast mainsail roller furling, head sail roller furling, and a shallow 4.5' draft making the Catalina 36 Mark II one of the easiest sailboats of this size to sail. Other amenities include a walk through transom with swim ladder, a deck hardware layout that allows complete sail control from the cockpit, sleeping accommodations for 6 adults, a full galley with a propane stove/oven, a full head including shower, a shower on the swim platform, and a 10-disk CD changer with cockpit speakers.
The Bernard is loaded with state of the art navigation equipment including RADAR, GPS, electronic chart plotting, autopilot, digital sonar and both a standard Ritchie magnetic compass and an electronic compass. All of the navigational electronics are integrated to give the sailors one of the most sophisticated navigational systems found on a sailboat this size.
