Arrival & Boarding Guide

Welcome aboard! To ensure you have a seamless start to your sailing adventure on our sailboats, please follow these arrival and boarding instructions.

Where to Find Us

Come Sailing, Inc. departs from Navy Pier Marina on the north side of the Navy Pier.

• MEETING POINT: Our specific meeting point is Gate B, located at 869 E Grand Ave.
• LANDMARK:  Look for Gate B which will be right next to light post number 26.
  • NOTE: The light posts on the north side of Navy Pier are all even numbered.  The light posts on the south side of Navy Pier are all odd numbers.  If you see even numbered light posts, you are on the correct side of the pier.
• VISUAL AID: Click the red sailboat icon on the map below to see a photo of the gate and read our specific check-in instructions.
  
• CHECK-IN: Please arrive 15–20 minutes early. Once you reach Gate B, please text or call us at 708-824-7245. A member of our crew will meet you at Gate B to escort your group to our boats.

Parking and Transportation

• CLOSEST PARKING: We highly recommend using the Navy Pier East Parking Garage. It is the closest parking facility to the Marina and provides the shortest walking distance to Gate B.
• RIDESHARE (Uber/Lyft): Set your drop-off destination to 869 E Grand Ave.
  • PRO-TIP FOR YOUR DRIVER: Instruct your driver to use Entrance 1 at the midpoint of Navy Pier (near the East Parking Garage entrance). This is the closest drop-off point to Gate B and will save you from a long walk from the front of the Pier.

Quick Boarding Tips

• FOOTWEAR: For your safety, and to protect the decks of our sailboats, please wear soft-soled, non-marking shoes (sneakers or boat shoes).   Please avoid high heels, heavy work boots, and dress shoes as you will be asked to leave these ashore.
• LAYERS: Dress for the weather but be aware that it is often 10 degrees cooler on the lake than on the shore; we suggest bringing a light jacket or wrap, even on warm days.
• PROVISIONS: On our Classic Sailboat, BERNARD, you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages (SMALL coolers preferred).  On our 49-passenger catamaran, CITY CAT, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.  No outside food or drinks are allowed on CITY CAT.
• SUN PROTECTION: The sun’s reflection off the water is powerful. Don't forget your sunglasses, a hat (with a chin strap for windy days), and sunscreen.

Clean Air Vessels

For the comfort and safety of all guests, Come Sailing, Inc. maintains a strictly non-smoking and non-vaping policy on all our boats, including CITY CAT.  The following are prohibited:

• Cigarettes, Cigars, Pipes, Chew, or any other form of tabaco products
• Vapes and E-Cigarettes
• Marijuana products

Please ensure all members of your party are aware of this policy prior to boarding.

We are located at the Navy Pier Marina on the North Side of Navy Pier at Gate B near Light Post 26​.
